Children’s Sermon Discussion Guide
Week 05September 13, 2026Ecclesiastes 5:1-7
Does God want us to talk or to listen?
Both, but listening comes first. God speaks, and we pay attention.
Before you talk
Most of us treat prayer like a drive-through: we place our order and move on. But God is not a vending machine. He speaks, through his Word, through his people, through the quiet.
Before you teach your child to listen to God, ask yourself: when was the last time you stopped talking long enough to hear him?
Start the conversation
- "When someone you love is talking to you, what should you do?"
- "Did you know God talks to us too? How do you think he does that?"
- "What if we tried being quiet together for ten seconds and just listening?"
Look for it this week
At bedtime, before the prayer, try ten seconds of silence together. Then pray. Let them feel the difference.
